3 Amazing Home Trends We Loved at the Autumn High Point Market 2024
Every fall, we eagerly attend the High Point Market, a place to reconnect with fellow designers, gain insights from expert panels, and explore the latest industry trends. This year, one standout takeaway was the timeless truth: "What comes around goes around"—and it applies in more ways than one!
Find #1: Spice Colors
Cool shades of gray are a thing of the past. Instead, we're embracing warmer tones, strongly influenced by what I like to call "spice colors." Picture your spice drawer—rich, saturated earth tones are making a strong appearance in design. These hues exude comfort and create a relaxed vibe.
Find #2: Lighter Tone Woods with Stone
Lighter stained wood tones in furniture are making a major comeback. We saw these wood tones beautifully paired with natural stones, specifically limestone and travertine. The look is reminiscent of the days of jewel tones with terrazzo and Tuscan-style design, but thanks to the lighter-colored woods, it's now with a fresh, modern twist.
Find #3: Polished Brass
I was a bit taken aback when I walked into some of our luxury showrooms and saw their feature products accented with polished brass. The idea of this finish making a comeback in design almost made my skin crawl. But I’m curious to see how it will be received in the marketplace—I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of it in the months ahead.
Seeing where design trends are headed at High Point Market is always exciting. That said, great design isn’t about following trends—it’s about understanding who you are and what makes you feel comfortable. Trends serve as inspiration, helping us craft beautiful, timeless designs that resonate for years to come. Personally, I can’t wait to incorporate some spicy colors into my clients’ designs. As for the polished brass... I might hold off on that one for a while! LOL
